The memorial is south of Queen's Park near Queen subway station. It honors more than 300 Firefighters who have died in the line of duty throughout Ontario province since 1848. I was surprised to see that a number of names were from recent years. I never knew that despite all the modern equipment and improved techniques, many firefighters are sacrificing their lives every year. Firefighting is still a very serious business meant for very courageous people.
