"Rising"

Outside the hotel Shangri-La in downtown, there is a huge weird looking sculpture named "Rising". My first impression about it was something out of a nightmare. But according to the artist's interpretation, "it is a philosophical reflection of the world around us". A dragon-like tree is covered with doves,  the international symbol of world peace and it represents the fragile conditions facing our planet. So is about existing in harmony with nature.

This mammoth stainless-steel sculpture by Zhang Huan took two years to complete and its price tag was around $5 million. This doesn't leave much of a room for any other interpretation.
