During the Second World War, there was a training camp for the exiled Royal Norwegian Air Force at this place. A park was built in 1987 to commemorate this 'Little Norway' training base and to honor more than 2,500 Norwegian airmen who trained here.
This boulder was transported from Norway in 1976 to serve as a monument.
Original flagpole base from the Little Noway camp.
A magnificent totem pole is located in the northwestern corner of the park. The pole titled 'Dreamworks of the Whales' was sculpted in 1980 by the 'Ne Chi Zu Works' artists.
Totems are part of the Northwest Coast culture of the First Nations. These poles symbolize and honor cultural beliefs, legends, ancestors or important events.
