Flight of the Passenger Pigeon

"Flight of the Passenger Pigeon" mural by John Kuna (2018) in Etobicoke, Toronto.

Passenger Pigeons, once numbering billions, went extinct in the early 20th century due to extensive hunting and loss of habitat. Theirs is a sad story of human shortsightedness and folly.

Nonetheless, humans (at least in this part of the world) have learned and improved much since that time. Now all creatures feel safe and protected here again. It is my hope that one day we will be able to resurrect these friendly creatures and they will soar again in these skies.
